King Ramses II was one of the greatest pharaohs in Egypt. He had the longest rein of all the pharaohs and was the most influential pharaoh.

Ramses II constructed many structures in his rein. These included Abu Simbel a great temple in Nubia, tomb kv5, the largest tomb in the valley of the kings. He also constructed Nefertiti's tomb, she was his favourite wife. Also, he moved his capital city from the Nile Valley to the eastern delta.
Ramses II died when he was in his nineties. He was mummified in the regular fashion and buried in a tomb. Due to tomb robbers he was then moved to another tomb then moved to yet another tomb. His remains are now housed in the Cairo Egyptian museum.
X-rays show that he was suffering from arthritis and dental problems when he died. |
